ABOUT THE LAB

Over five days, you will enter the active creative world of Belle Spirale — learning company repertoire, working directly with text-based and task-driven choreographic processes, and researching the ideas and movement language that will become part of Alexis's next creation.

You will leave with new physical material in your body, a deeper understanding of how our choreography is built from the inside, and a genuine working relationship with the company. The Lab is designed for the pre-professional 18 years and up or professional dancer who wants to grow as an artist, not just as a technician.

🌀 10 - 11:30 ~ Contemporary Ballet Class

Alexis shares her personal training practice — a contemporary ballet approach rooted in specificity of weight, breath, and dynamic range. A class in how she prepares her body to make and perform work.

DAILY SCHEDULE

🌀 12 - 3 ~ Choreographic Workshop & Company Repertoire Lab

Each afternoon moves between learning existing Belle Spirale repertoire and diving into Alexis's active creative process — working with text, task-based scores, and new phrase material that will feed directly into her next work. You are not observing a creative process; you are inside it.

OUR AUDITION PHILOSOPHY

Who we make work with matters as much as what we make. The standard cattle-call audition doesn't give artists the space to show who they really are, and it doesn't give us what we actually need to know. Instead, an audition for upcoming Belle Spirale projects is built organically into the fabric of the week. Dancers joining us for the full five days are investing in their own training and development. Getting to know each other honestly and over time, is how we work best.
