New Creation: DOVES by Sid Chuckas
Belle Spirale is proud to produce an exciting new creation by Sid Chuckas. A powerful emerging voice in our community, and an artist loved for their compelling performances both with Ballet BC and at The Dance Deck, we cannot wait to share this innovative new work which draws from Sid’s unique voice as a dancer, creator and an architect.
DOVES drifts between memory and dream, inhabiting the strange geography of the sleeping mind: our dreams not as linear narratives, but constantly evolving terrain. Bodies dissolve through softness, collision, longing, and flight. Children echo in distant fields. Rain presses against the earth. Water rushes toward somewhere unnamed.
The work remembers what it felt like to disappear into imagination completely — to move without gravity through worlds both beautiful and unbearable.
Dreaming becomes instinct. Survival. Surrender. A body in motion before language can explain it. Like birds navigating invisible currents, DOVES searches for the quiet knowing within wonder, fear, and the landscapes we carry long after waking.
~ Sid Chuckas.
DOVES was originally created with generous creation support from Ballet BC’s Take Form.
PERFORMERS: Ariana Barr, Nathan Coburn, Brenna Metzmeier, Kylie Miller, Kaylin Sturtevant, Stan Tonin.
